Color War has been an on-gain off-again DMC tradition since 2019. It has been interrupted by COVID, rain and various unforeseen circumstances, but it is still alive and growing at the school.
What is it you ask?
Color War is a community building, culture defining event at DMC. Most of our students love it, especially once they understand the importance Color War has on building a sense of identity and community for the school. Color War takes place on days throughout the year, we usually like to announce the event the morning off, to help build the excitement. Ideally all of our students would be excited to come and take part in athletic and academic challenges where points are earned. It is not about winning and losing, but more about coming together as a school and working as teams to accomplish goals. We have seen the power of Color War as it builds common ground between students and staff and offers a day of learning and togetherness disguised as fun. We see our oldest students as the leaders of Color War, but they are also the most difficult to engage in the event as a group. We hope parents and guardians can see the positive possibilities of this DMC tradition and help your child understand the role they can play and the legacy they can leave behind when they depart DMC.
Our last Color War will be on June 26th, we hope everyone will come ready to engage and have some fun. If your child does not wish to be part of this incredible day, feel free to call the school to excuse them.
