Dear Parents/Guardians,
As we approach parent-teacher conference time, I want to share some tips to help you make the most of these important conversations. Conferences provide a valuable opportunity for collaboration between home and school to support your child's success.
Before the Conference
1. Review Your Child’s Progress: Look over PowerSchool, graded assignments, and any communication from the teacher to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
2. Talk to Your Child: Ask them how they feel about their classes and if there’s anything they’d like you to discuss with their teacher.
3. Prepare Questions: Jot down specific questions or concerns. Consider asking about academic performance, social interactions, or how you can support learning at home.
During the Conference
1. Arrive on Time: Conferences are scheduled closely, so being prompt ensures enough time to discuss your child.
2. Stay Focused: Use your prepared questions to guide the conversation, and remember to listen as much as you speak.
3. Collaborate: Teachers are here to help. Share insights about your child’s interests, strengths, or challenges that might not be evident in the classroom.
After the Conference
1. Talk with Your Child: Share key points from the conference and any plans you’ve made with the teacher.
2. Follow Through: If strategies or action steps were discussed, work on them at home and stay in touch with the teacher about progress.
3. Celebrate Growth: Highlight your child’s successes and encourage their efforts moving forward.
Thank you for partnering with us to ensure the best possible learning environment for your child. Together, we can make a difference!
We look forward to seeing you at the conferences. If you have any questions beforehand, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
