Dear Families,

Dear Families,

Welcome back to another exciting school year at Dr. Martha Cohen School! I hope you and your family had a wonderful summer filled with rest, joy, and time together. Whether you are returning or joining our community for the first time, we are thrilled to have you as part of our school family. Below you will find some reminders, teachers will also be sending out email to all students on Friday with more information including who their teachers are, and where they will meet on September 2.

At DMC, we remain committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every student is supported in reaching their potential. This year, our continued focus will be on Literacy, Well-Being, and Student Leadership, ensuring that students grow both academically and socially.

To help families prepare, we have posted key resources on our website:

📘 Back to School Information – including first day procedures, bell times, school supplies, transportation, and school fees. (This was previously sent to all families in June)

📖 Student Code of Conduct – outlining expectations that promote respect, safety, and responsibility for all members of our school community.

📱 Cell Phone and Personal Device Policy – clarifying how technology can be used responsibly to support learning while minimizing distractions.

We encourage all families to review these pages carefully, as they provide important details to ensure a smooth start to the year. Staying familiar with our expectations also helps us build a positive and supportive school culture together.

Class lists have been created with great care and consideration by our staff, who have invested significant time and effort into ensuring balanced and supportive learning environments for all students. As such, we will not be making changes to class lists. We ask that all families support their child through this transition period. If, after settling in, there are still concerns, we are happy to have a conversation at the end of September.

Additionally, if your family will not be returning to Dr. Martha Cohen School this year, we kindly ask that you notify the school office as soon as possible. This helps us plan and allocate resources effectively to support all students.

We value strong partnerships between home and school. Families can stay informed and engaged by:

  • Visiting our school website, PowerSchool and Google Classroom regularly for updates and news.
  • Reading our weekly school messages to stay connected with upcoming events.
  • Reaching out to teachers or the school office whenever questions or concerns arise.

Your involvement makes a difference in the success of our students, and together we can ensure that every child feels connected, challenged, and celebrated.

Thank you for your continued partnership. We are excited for the year ahead and the many opportunities it will bring for our students to learn, lead, and thrive.

Warm regards,
Jason Hartl
