Week of October 1st - 3rd:
Science
This week in Science, we conducted a fun experiment using food colouring in three cups of water (hot, cold, and warm). Students observed how the food colouring moved differently in each and then made conclusions about what they saw. This experiment was directly connected to the Particle Model of Matter and also gave students the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the scientific method, as they were expected to write a lab report independently. We also explored the various phase changes of matter and discussed how thermometers function and why they are crucial in measuring temperature.
Math
This week in Math, students continued reviewing addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers. They also completed a personal questionnaire to reflect on how they feel about math and their current level of understanding. Students received feedback from their Integers and Whole Numbers check-in as well. We encourage students to continue practicing these foundational skills at home whenever possible, as regular practice helps strengthen accuracy and confidence
Tasks & Assignments:
- Please continue practicing adding, subtracting (borrowing and regrouping), multiplying (2-digit by 2-digit, 3-digit by 2-digit), and dividing whole numbers (long division: 3-digit by 1-digit) to strengthen your skills and boost your confidence
