Dear Dr. Martha Cohen School Families,
As we come to the close of another school year, I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to our entire school community for your continued support, partnership, and commitment to our students.
This year has been filled with meaningful learning, growth, and connection. In classrooms, students have demonstrated curiosity, perseverance, and an increasing ability to work collaboratively and think critically. Our staff has continued to focus on creating engaging learning environments that support both academic achievement and student well‑being, and I am proud of the work we have accomplished together.
Beyond the classroom, our school has been enriched by a wide range of experiences, from athletics and clubs to leadership opportunities and special events. These experiences help foster a strong sense of belonging and connection, which is central to who we are as a Dr. Martha Cohen community.
As we close the year, we also take time to recognize several staff members who will be leaving our school. We wish Mrs. Dawson, Ms. Smart, Mr. Clark, Mr. Chapman, Mr. Lindsay, and Mr. Borissov all the very best in their next chapters. Each of them has made meaningful contributions to our school community and will be missed.
A special acknowledgment goes to Ms. Magee, who is retiring after many years of dedicated service to the Calgary Board of Education, including the past 10 years at Dr. Martha Cohen School since it opened in 2017. Ms. Magee’s commitment to students, her professionalism, and her care for our school community have had a lasting impact. We thank her for her significant contributions and wish her a very well‑deserved retirement.
I would also like to recognize our staff more broadly for their professionalism, care, and dedication to students each day. Their commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment is what makes our school such a strong place for learning.
To our families, thank you for your ongoing partnership. Your support at home, your communication with the school, and your involvement in your child’s learning make a meaningful difference. We value the trust you place in us.
And to our students, thank you for the energy, effort, and positivity you bring each day. As we say farewell to our Grade 9 students, we wish you all the best as you transition to high school. You leave Dr. Martha Cohen with our pride and best wishes for continued success.
Please note that the school office will be closed for the summer and will reopen on August 26 at 9:00 a.m. There will be no staff in the building during this time, and emails or phone messages may not be responded to until the office reopens.
We hope that all of our families have a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall, ready for another year of learning and growth.
Warm regards,
Jason Hartl
Principal
