Grade 9 Farewell Updates and Looking for Parent Volunteers
Its not quite time to say good-bye, but we wanted to reach out to our grade 9 families to let them know a few things and to ask for help.
At DMC our grade 9 leadership class spearheads the planning of our grade 9 farewell. Farewell is not a graduation, it is simply an opportunity for the school community to say good-bye to our departing grade 9's and to wish them well. In the past we have had a small celebration at the school in the form of a stage walk and dance. Our leadership class is in the process of determining what the plan will be for this going spring.
We want students to have some voice in this opportunity, and we want to make sure to consider the economics of our times as well. We know many families are struggling with finances so we are looking at options that are cost effective. Once the students have decided on the activity they want we will provide more details.
We also have a parent group that does some fundraising for the grade 9 year end activity. If you are able to spare some time please connect with Roxy at canuckandkiwi@hotmail.com
Please remember that grade 9 is not a graduation year, it is simply a transition from grade 9 to grade 10, a change in buildings. Schools across the city do different things, some do nothing at all. We, of course, want to make sure to mark the time our grade 9's have spent at DMC and we will do our best to incorporate student voice in that decision.
